People That Dont Feed Their Dogs Dog Food, Rather Homemade Health Meals… Is That Safe?

Some people are against the dry foods because of what it is made out of, so Im wondering if you make them homemade healthy meals and if its working out?
I read this:
“The best way to know what goes into your dog’s food is to make it yourself. With the recent pet food recall, many pet owners are doing just that. Though some experts argue that a homemade diet is best for dogs, this is best done temporarily until you can consult your veterinarian, as canines have definite nutritional requirements.”
What if my veternarian says NO and wants her to eat purina or Iams or something though? I wont know how much meat and veggies I need to give her, if the vet doesnt discuss it with me.
Btw, theres been a lot of trolling going around. Id appreciate that if you are going to answer, that you act like an adult and give me mature input.
If you dont agree with looking for what I believe to be healtier alternatives for the dog, DONT RESPOND. Its that simple.

Homemade Dog Food?

Hi,
I am interested in feeding my 12 week old beagle puppy healthy homemade food as a substitute to his dry food about three times a week. My current homemade treat is made up of:
Lean beef mince,
Grated carrot,
Grated zucinni,
1 whole egg,
Tiny amount of garlic, and
A pinch of herbs.
Is this a suitable substitute?
Does anyone have any other ideas as to what to include in this mix or how to make it better?
Thank you

Healthy Home Cook Food For Your Dog?

Do you cook for your pet or buy in store dog food? I hear so many stories how long they live on high quality dry dog food or healthy homemade food. I’m getting confused. I know some pet owners whose dog lived a long time on both. My 4lb Maltese is a picky eater. She has lost and gained weight by only ounce. I know some say they wont starve themselves but mine is really funny. She sniffs everything and walks away. She nibbles on her dry “Solid Gold” food here and there. It depends on the day and her mood. I tried to mix the dry with a little wet, add lil low sodium chicken broth, etc. The doctor gave her “Royal Canin” and she got the runs. Should I try a different brand of food for sensitive stomachs or home cook her meals? If dry food I prefer organic and if cooked “what recipes?” Everyone has there own preference but I still would like to know both sides. Thanks.

With The Recent Scare Of The Contaminated Dog Food, How Would I Make Homemade Dog Food?

With the recent scare with the contaminated dry and wet dog foods , I would rather make my own dog food and have my dogs safe and healthy. There are sites on the web, but none of them actually give you a physical recipe.

What Is A Good Homemade Dog Food Recipe For Dogs With Allergies?

My dog has allergies. Tried other vet recommended things with no success. Now I want to make my dog’s food myself to see if that can help. I need a healthy recipe for dogs that is gluten and grain free. One that is good for dogs with allergies, and well balanced.

Homemade Dog Food And Treats?

I have been looking around online and ws thinking that maybe a good homemade recipe would be the way to go.
What do you think?
Have you done this?
Heres a little info
You basically cook and puree ingiedients and work into a dough and bake it for kibbles.
A basic formula for a homemade diet would be 50 percent protein, 25 percent vegetables (ground so they are easy to digest), and 25 percent grain (such as rice and oatmeal). Add to that some supplements of certain vitamins, minerals, and oils rich in omega-3 for healthy skin and coat.
There are certain foods you want to avoid, such as fatty meats, cured meat, (sausage, bacon, hot dogs), any fried foods and raw pork. You also want to avoid any milk, cream, ice cream, pastries, white bread, sugary foods, grapes, raisins and onions. Also, keep in mind that anything you consider to be junk food would not be good for your dog.
Healthy foods to give your dog would include raw or cooked lean cuts of meat: beef, poultry, lamb, whitefish and fatty fish (like salmon). Also included in a healthy diet are cooked grains, eggs (raw or cooked), finely chopped or ground raw vegetables (remember, no onions), and bits of fruit (again, remember to give your dog no raisons or grapes).http://www.productsherbal.com/food/homem…
Theres other links toohttp://www.seefido.com/html/dog_kibble_r…
Would you try it?
I think I’m going to try baking treats….

Is Homemade Dog Food Cheaper?

I might get a puppy, and i was wondering if homemade dog food is cheaper/ healthier for dogs. I really against excessive amounts of preservatives in foods, and I am pretty sure that dog food has a really long shelf life.
