Could anyone give me an idea of what ingredients to put in a homemade raw diet?

I want to change due to the recent recall of one commercial raw food diet and also other pet foods that contain ingredients from China and other substances which make them unsafe. I want to be able to put together a diet in my Kitchen, knowing what ingredients I put in it. I don’t mind adding veggies and fruit either, doesn’t bother me and I know the added vitamins are good.
Should I be adding a multi vitamin and mineral and fish oil supplement also? I really don’t want to risk my dog not getting all the nutrients he needs.

Thanks!

Switching My Dogs To Homemade Food?

What’s the best way to switch them from store bought dog food to a home made diet?

Does anyone have any recipes and/or websites they can share?

Also, did you notice an improvement in your dog’s health?

Also, my two Labs who love to eat. And we got our older Lab from a family who didn’t take care of him, so he weighed 120 pounds at 8 months, so he’s prone to packing on the weight now. So does anyone have any suggestions on the serving size my boys should get?

In doing my research I was told to speak to the vet about switching my dogs but when I spoke to the vet (I spoke to several vets actually) they told me not to switch them, to keep using the store bought food. However I feel the store brands are full of fillers and nothing healthy. And the brands that are decent I can’t even get where we live, and I don’t read Japanese so I don’t know what the local dog food is like.
I just would like to add that I live on one of Japan’s islands and they will not ship dog food to me.

Also, at this time feeding my dogs raw isn’t an option, we’re looking into it but until we can work something out we are not able to do raw, which is why, for now, we’re doing the homemade meals.

Canine chronic pancreatitis diet?

Hey!

I don’t know whether to buy the prescription food from the vet or just cook my dog homemade meals.. I’m worried she won’t be getting adequate vitamins or whatever. Does anyone have any recipes suitable for a dog with chronic pancreatitis?

Thanks!

Could you suggest a dog diet or book for cooking homemade dog food?

I have two 18 month old chihuahuas. They got sick ( runny doo doo ) The vet suggested a temporary diet where I cook for them. bland mashed chicken and rice, then switch back. Switching back made them sick again. They are doing okay now with the homemade food.

After looking at the ingredients in a lot of dog food brands, I have decided I don’t want to buy pre-made food anymore.

Can you suggest a cook book for dogs?
Yes I will verify with my vet.

What do I need to make my own rat food?

I’ve taken in a lot of rats in need of a home. I currently have 23. As you can imagine, food can be quite expensive. They don’t even like half the crap in the the store bought bags. I’ve heard you can give them dog or cat food.

What kind of dog/cat food is best?
What else do I use for my homemade mix?

I know there are a lot of rattie lovers on here! What do you guys use?
