Whats the best brand of Vegetarian dog food for puppyand adult chihuahuas?one that doesnt need supplements?

i am getting a puppy chihuahua and i would like it to be a vegetarian. i also want it to be a vegetarian when it grows up too. I dont want a homemade recipe for dog food please. If you have a vegetarian recipe for dog treats that would be cool! but i just want a brand of food that is for puppy chihuahuas and another type of food that is for adult chihuahuas that is vegetarian and needs no supplements. I want it to supply all the vitamins my chihuahua will need as a puppy and an adult (all amino acids, b-12 etc) if you have a pet vegetarian chihuahua and your using a certain brand of food and your dog has no vitamin deffinciencies that would AWESOME. if you could just tell me what you used when ur dog was a puppy and what you use now and stuff. If you have a brand that is good but you need to add something to it because it lacks a certain item in it thats fine too. thanks!

HELP! my Chihuahua wont eat!?

please help, she wont eat her normal dog food iams puppy, she is an adult dog ( 1 yr ) but my mom REFUSES to buy her and different food. She wont even take one nibble from it! she is getting SO SKINNY!! i was wondering if i should add peanut butter to her food or make her a total home made meal, she likes homemade the best. i worry because she DOES NOT eat her food, but when we go to my aunts they have dogs and she gobbles down the senior dog food, u think she gets tired of one type of food? and if this helps she sneaks into my baby brothers room and trys to eat the poop out of his diaper, yea GROSS! i catch her every time but u know babys they strip so its not my fault. im 16 and my chihuahuas name is pepita… Any ideas guys? ( sorry for rambling on like that )
also ive had lots of dogs in my past and they have NEVER refused to eat the food they were given. we only feed iams and purinaby the way
ok she hs had ONE home cooked meal and that was when she was about 6 months old cause the vet roccomended that. and she may eat one bit everymonth i tried canned over her dry she at it but i cant get my mom to go back and buy more
i know about all the hazzards and things but i only dont know what i can do to get her to eat HER food she will eat anybody else’s and i asked for ideas
ok
1. I NEVER IN HER LIFE have changed her food,
2. I DONT FEED HER HOME MADE MEALS!! she had one ONCE when she was about 7 months old

best doggy weight loss diet..?

i have a 6 year old parsons russell terrier who’s looking a little pudgy.. (maybe 5-8 pounds over weight)

honestly, he probably doesn’t get enough exercise daily, but a few times a week we play ball with him (in doing he runs, alot) , and a (different) few days a week he gets run of a 20 acre riding facility..

anyways, we have him on science diet light adult small bites in whatever flavor they have, but hes still looking pudgy.

What food would you suggest for getting a dog to loose weight?, be it canned, dry, homemade.. i just want to hear what you think!
And, after hes lost the weight, what would you suggest feeding him from there on?

AND, i’ll be going for daily 30min-1 hour walks with him from now on.

thanks!

Whoa! Does this seem RIGHT?

I was doing a little research for homemade dog food for another asker, and they provided THIS guide for how much of this recipe you should feed your dog DAILY. 12 CUPS for a 150 lb DOG? Help me out, this seems CRAZY!

5 lbs 3/4 cup
10 lbs 1-1/2 cups
25 lbs 3 cups
40 lbs 4-1/2 cups
60 lbs 6 cups
85 lbs 7-1/2 cups
105 lbs 9 cups
125 lbs 10-1/2 cups
150 lbs 12 cups
Yeah! That’s what I thought! My friend’s ADULT lab, gets 2.5 cups a day! Do you really think that it’s simply because there’s no nutrition?
yeah, my slight built 28lb BC gets one cup of his food a DAY. This seems really odd.

I just got two shitzus. What type of foods should I avoid feeding them and which are recommended.?

I just got to shitzus. One is an adult the other is her young pup probably about (8 months old). I’ve tried to do research on what not to feed shitzus and what is recommended. I have read that it is better to feed them homemade food like chicken and rice or others have said to feed them a specific type of dog food. I heard that feeding your pure breed dog the wrong food can cause skin allergens, ( itchy skin), loose stool and so much other problems. I have never had a pure breed dog before so I never had to deal with so much issues with feeding. So far I have been feeding them Iams small bites dog food with a little homemade chicken stock. Occasionally I will boil a piece of chicken and shred some into there dried dog food. Is this good and if not what the heck am I supposed to feed a shitzu? Some one please advise

People that dont feed their dogs dog food, rather homemade health meals… is that safe?

Some people are against the dry foods because of what it is made out of, so Im wondering if you make them homemade healthy meals and if its working out?

I read this:

"The best way to know what goes into your dog’s food is to make it yourself. With the recent pet food recall, many pet owners are doing just that. Though some experts argue that a homemade diet is best for dogs, this is best done temporarily until you can consult your veterinarian, as canines have definite nutritional requirements."

What if my veternarian says NO and wants her to eat purina or Iams or something though? I wont know how much meat and veggies I need to give her, if the vet doesnt discuss it with me.

Btw, theres been a lot of trolling going around. Id appreciate that if you are going to answer, that you act like an adult and give me mature input.

If you dont agree with looking for what I believe to be healtier alternatives for the dog, DONT RESPOND. Its that simple.
Wow Johnny D. Thank you so much for respecting me and doing exactly what I asked you not to do.

This is Q&A’s about NOT feeding them dog food.

what are the ingredients of Purina Tonus adult Lamb & Rice(or chicken & rice)?

Because of some ”money problems” maybe i’ll switch from eagle pack holistic to Purina Tonus.
I’d like to know what are the ingredients of this dog food(and if the first is meat),if u have any experience on feeding that to your dogs… :)

(i think i ‘ll make a combination of Tonus+homemade food…)

Thank u and i wish a happy new year to all!
Cheers from Greece!!!
I know there is dogfoodanalysis…but there is no review for Purina Tonus… :(
i haven’t bought the bag yet…i wanted to know first what are the ingredients…I ‘ll check it when i’ll go to buy… :)
i still want to know if you had good or bad experience on this food… :-) )

Does anyone have a weimaraner that has been allergic to Nutro Lamb & Rice Can Dog food for Adult dogs?

I have a weimaraner that I switched from Nature’s Receipe that to Nutro Nature Choice Lamb & Rice ( dry and can food). She developed raised whelps on her back after the switch to Nutro. This happen to another weim that I had 10 years ago which was related to a food reaction. She does not like Nature’s Receipe so I thought I would Nutro a try. She loved it but it does not like her. I do know my first weimaraner was allergic to sunflower seeds. ( I know this from making homemade heathly dogfood!) I discovered tonight that Nutro can food varieties list Sunflower oil as an ingredient. I am trying to find out if anyone has this problem? Please respond! I believe Nutro is a good food. She sure did like it!
