He has been to the vet twice & the vet has done skin tests that came back clean & gave us antibiotics and sent us on our way. The antibiotics have done nothing for him. We have another dog (a Black Lab) & she is fine. We are getting them new dog food tmrw & picking up some cod liver oil pills. Is their anything else I can do to help him? Homemade conditioner? Anything!
The vet did give us special shampoo.

Because apparently if it is for "family," it is allowed to be mostly salt, and combining three Kraft Foods products means you are "cooking."
Earlier this week somebody suggested "garbage meals," "basically a casserole of anything that can be edible together," and offered a suggested one that was a couple of cans mixed with a can of cream of mushroom soup, that made a sort of…soup-mess. Today somebody posted a recipe for "hot dogs in homemade sauce" which involved simmering hot dogs in ketchup with added sugar.

For better or worse this stuff makes me laugh like crazy. Here is my all-time favourite in this genre:

Can you better it?
Apparently that’s a known variant called "American goulash." I had no idea! My mother made a slop with macaroni, tinned tomatoes, and broccoli…

(The thing about the "rice puree" w/salty canned soup — it’s supposed to be _baby food_!)

I need help finding a homemade dry dog food recipe that I can make for my 6-7 month old pit. If any one can please give me either a link to the recipe or the recipe itself as an answer would really be helpful. I’m trying to find a recipe that contains all the vitamins etc. that my pit needs. When we first got our pit, the previous owner said he was feeding her Purina- which we didn’t believe (I think he was really giving her table scraps which that’s probably why she was sick) Anyways, I started giving her Purina Puppy chow then just recently changed to the Purina dog chow and just found out they’re bad dog foods. I have read allot on the web about the bone & meat meal thing and I just had enough of it. I decided that after this bag of Purina Dog chow finish I wanted to give her homemade healthy food. Also, I cook her own food sometimes & I give her boiled boneless chicken with plain white rice, boiled steak- which I don’t know if its any good or not, I don’t put any salts or seasoning in any of the food I cook for her. I have cooked her own p.b treats which she loves. Any tips on what I should cook for her as wet food that’s good for her and recipes for good homemade dry dog food would be appreciated. I want to make sure she is healthy and I also want to make sure whats in her food, I really want to scratch commercial foods off my list- I think that they’re just for profit. Thanks in advanced for those of you that answer.

Hello, I have a 10 month old French Bulldog/"Pit bull" mix…When I got her almost a year ago the people before me didn’t take very good care of her and she was very sick and almost died…she had very bad intestinal worms. Since then she has always had a sensitive stomach. Most foods have made her sick, and the food the vet told me to put her on she doesn’t like and will barely nibble at it. The vets next suggestion was to make it myself…..so, HELP!
She loves fruits and Veggies and meats of course, how can I go about giving her a good balanced meal & still taking into consideration her sensitive stomach…..thanks!
she was on hard food, I’d like to give her something a bit more "attractive" but my main concern is….I don’t wanna be feeding her all this crap that’s unnecessary, I want her on a healthy balanced diet =)
Someone suggested the Raw Food Diet, but I heard that’s expensive and difficult….

I made dog biscuits for my dog, but they seem like they are very hard. I mean, he chewed and ate them, but I was wondering if he would have any stomachache or something… Can homemade dog biscuits be too hear for dogs to eat? I guess they keep him busy for a while, so I like that but I just wanted to make sure… I wanted to share with my friends’ dogs, too but I don’t want to make them sick! It has all the good stuff; chopped carrots, baby food (Beef), unbleached flour (whole wheat & all-purpose), and veggie oil. Please tell me what you think!

I’ve heard about vinegar killing other insects…I’ve also heard about mixing 50% dishwashing liquid & 50% water to spray on fleas will this also work for ticks? & what about feeding dogs a moderate amount of garlic in their food does this really repel them? Please supply me with as much "FACTS" you can.
Doug0102 this has nothing to do with "cheapness" you’re a presumptious & UNFUNNY jackass! "fat hamburgers" *sigh…get a life!
Like I said "Doug0102" you’re a prick..all the thumbs down should confirm that for you if there ever any doubt in your mind (although thats hardly likely!).
Guess what Doug?…still a prick.

Hello all
. I have a few questions that I’m trying to squeeze all together, lol.
1) I looked up Suebee’s Rat Diet today & tried my best to follow it as well as possible. This is what I’ve come up with. I’m missing pasta, puffed rice & a lab block/dog food.
- 3 1/3 cups Organic Mixed Fruits & Nuts
- 4 cups of Total
- 2 cups of Organic Puffed Wheat Cereal
- 2/3 cups unsalted sunflower seeds
- 2 3/4 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup of banana chips
What should I add or take away? And by how much?
2) This is my cage set up so far. All it’s missing is my rats & some homemade toys & cuddly items.

3) Here’s a picture of the whole litter, 2 of which are mine.

I’ll be taking home the one white & brown one & one of the cream colored ones. What would be their technical coloring?
Thanks
!
Ahh, sorry about the pictures. I’m so used to Photobucket automatically copying URL’s.
Here is the cage:

Mind my backside, I just was incredibly happy that I could fit into the cage so easily.
For real this time -_-.

Please never use any food from Purina, because they are all crap, and you would never want to feed a pet that you loved the Purina brand. Here is thier website:

Never use Science Diet, either. That is a very crappy brand. If your dog is ever sick, the vet will recommend Science Diet Prescription Diet. Don’t get it, because it is actually very bad for your pet. Here is their website:

Yes, I do have experience with feeding ALL of Purina’s products and also ALL of Science Diet’s products. When I was dumb a few years ago and believed my vet/T.V.

In a previous question about homemade versus commercial diets Shell&Jas brought up an interesting point. While most people on here will quickly recommend that nearly everyone rush to the vet for medical problems, for feeding questions many people distrust the advice of vets and think that the foods fed from vets’ offices are junk. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Avp1OquKSA3_DXzp1B4rWarsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071103221932AAZfLTo&show=7#profile-info-xuiL7tmVaa
That got me thinking. How much do you trust vets? I’m not talking about YOUR vet, but just vets in general. Your average veterinarian.
In what areas do you trust vets? In what areas do you prefer to take other people’s or other experts’ advice? Are there areas where you think the education of vets (in general) is lacking or was otherwise taught from a biased source (such as dog food companies)?
Finally, are your feelings about animal medicine and DVMs more or less parallel to your feelings about human medicine and MDs?
