Homemade Dog Foods

I have a weimaraner that I switched from Nature’s Receipe that to Nutro Nature Choice Lamb & Rice ( dry and can food). She developed raised whelps on her back after the switch to Nutro. This happen to another weim that I had 10 years ago which was related to a food reaction. She does not like Nature’s Receipe so I thought I would Nutro a try. She loved it but it does not like her. I do know my first weimaraner was allergic to sunflower seeds. ( I know this from making homemade heathly dogfood!) I discovered tonight that Nutro can food varieties list Sunflower oil as an ingredient. I am trying to find out if anyone has this problem? Please respond! I believe Nutro is a good food. She sure did like it!

My dog has idiopathic epilepsy and my vet is completely useless. When my dog first got it, he had tons of blood test and they couldn’t find the cause. Eventually they said it was idiopathic. Over the years I’ve done what the vet said just watch out. I looked up some information at first and asked if his food could be a factor, my vet said no. He only gets seizures every 3 months or so, and my vet said if he gets worse they’ll put him on medication, but that can cause liver disease.
Last year I decided I was sick of my vet so I tried a couple of things. Know I have him on a homemade diet from canine epilepsy guardian angels site, and am using home remedies. I can’t say if it’s working because I just started and he only gets seizures every 3 months or so.
I want to find a vet who is open to different solutions. My vets a *ss who doesn’t even have a good rapport with my dog. My dogs not well trained because I’ve spoiled him (mainly because I was afraid of disciplining him at first because of the seizures). But even so, most people he’s OK with, but he hates going to that vet office and so do I.
Do you have any resources in finding a good homeopathic vet?

A friend of mine works at a local shelter and she’s always saying how she needs food, treats, toys, etc…. So I thought it would be a nice gesture to give some homemade dog treats. Does anyone have any recipes that their dog really goes through the roof for?

I’ve heard about vinegar killing other insects…I’ve also heard about mixing 50% dishwashing liquid & 50% water to spray on fleas will this also work for ticks? & what about feeding dogs a moderate amount of garlic in their food does this really repel them? Please supply me with as much “FACTS” you can.
