Homemade Dog Foods

i am getting a puppy chihuahua and i would like it to be a vegetarian. i also want it to be a vegetarian when it grows up too. I dont want a homemade recipe for dog food please. If you have a vegetarian recipe for dog treats that would be cool! but i just want a brand of food that is for puppy chihuahuas and another type of food that is for adult chihuahuas that is vegetarian and needs no supplements. I want it to supply all the vitamins my chihuahua will need as a puppy and an adult (all amino acids, b-12 etc) if you have a pet vegetarian chihuahua and your using a certain brand of food and your dog has no vitamin deffinciencies that would AWESOME. if you could just tell me what you used when ur dog was a puppy and what you use now and stuff. If you have a brand that is good but you need to add something to it because it lacks a certain item in it thats fine too. thanks!

i have a chihuahua, and my mom thinks it would be cool to try to make homemade dog food … we got this idea because we where reading our dog food nurturance facts and turns out my dog is eating animal by products!

so any ideas?? pictures would be nice too

Ive been going back and fourth on doing home cooked food for my chihuahua. i was afraid of not getting the nutrients right so i think ive decided on giving normal dog food during the day and he gets a homemade dinner. Im looking for some recipe suggestions and how much do you feed. He is a 6 pound male and he will 9 months this month. thanks!!

So ive been looking into starting my 8 month old chihuahua on homemade food. He never seems to truely love any of the dog food i try and i try the best of the best and i just hate giving him a bowl of kibble everyday. So i looked into homemade food and it just seems so complex with all the supplementing and i guess im just nervous i would deprive him accidently of something or give too much of something else. every recipe and rules contradict eachother and its so confusing. I would love to make him yummy food that he looks forward to everyday. He is currently on royal canin. Any advice would help tons.

OK so ive been researching because im going to start homemade dog food for my chihuahua and i was browsing recipes and on the halo dog food website they have a recipe called spots stew chicken and one ingredient is fresh garlic?! I first looked up all harmful ingredients before i started looking for anything and garlic was on every list i found! what the heck halo! this garlic thing is true right? and if anyone has a recipe let me know. I am looking for something like chicken, brown rice, sweet potato, beans, egg

My Chihuahua seems like he doesn’t like ANY dog food we give him!!!What should I feed him is there anything like homemade dog food?He likes bread I know that cause when he finds some he just stares at it like it’s chocolate.
…we always give him ACTUAL dog food.I just want to give him something he likes not gets VERY hungry and eats.

Ok well he doesnt eat any dog food, at all, he only eats homemade food. and if i feed him hes jumping up and down the table for food the next 30 minutes. he has all his shots. so is this normal for him??? and what should i be really be feeding him any special food??

Ok, so im a HUGE endorser of holistic natural human grade dog food and would never feed my dog anything from Petsmart/Petco like Iams, Science Diet, Purina, etc. But my little Jack Russell Chihuahua is picky and tends to stay away from the dry food. I feed her wet in the morning, either canned or homemade, and dry the rest of the day. Shell eat the wet right away, but leave the dry, so my vet said to leave it out and let her pick at it. Ive tried Innova, Wellness, and a couple other dry, but she has to be starving to eat it. Right now I have Orijen in the bowl and shes eaten a couple pieces, but I want her to eat consistently. And since she eats it throughout the day, I cant wet it or put gravy on it because it will go bad. What can I do? The only two dry she hasnt tried are Canidae and Merrick… are they appealing to your dogs? Or do you have any other suggestions as to how to get her to eat dry. Ive heard about adding yogurt but her food already has probiotics in it… I dont know..

Hi. Where can you buy "Good, meaning not highest priced but not cheapies either" dog Vitamins and supplements?

Anyone know of a good vitamin that has ALL of it’s Minerals, Enzymes,Probiotic cultures, Amino acids, Fatty acids in one?
I would like to go All Natural if I can.

*Reason I am asking is because I am doing my own Homemade Dog food for my Chihuahua with Kidney Problems.

I just don’t know where to buy dog vitamins without shopping on the net and really didn’t want to. "They are Expensive!!!!"

I do not believe they are the ones I am looking for at all.

Becuase I don’t want to pay for stuff when I can just make it. my uncles house has tons of rabbirs there, and they always eat grass, and they somtimes go into the garden, and eat radishs, rasberries, strawberries too i think. We don’t mind them eaither. thy don’t eat alot of it.

Plus, pet store food in un natural. and my dog, is a chihuahua, she eats only human food. she hates dog food. She only ate it when he was a puppy. and my dog isnt fat and shes now 5 years old and healthy. We feed our dog what we eat. So when we eat chicken, she eats chicken, when we eat fruits and veges, she eats the same thing. So she pretty much eats the same thing we eat.

But what do they put in rabbir pellets? Becuase I could just make the pellets myself. I don’t like going to pet stores to get food. It’s unatrual and they put unatrual stuff in it. I feed my hermit crabs homemade food, and they love it. And I haven’t had a death SINCE I feed them my food.
