I am having a birthday party for my 5 year old daughter and 1 year old son. What are some good foods that I can serve (its a halloween party) I dont want anything gruesome, like the string cheese that looks like fingers and stuff. That is too much for the little kids. The party is going to be outside, because of the HUGE guest list… and it might be a little cold, this time of year you can never tell around here. So, I need to know what would be good to serve. We are definetly having cupcakes that look like pumpkins and a tropical punch that I am going to put a couple of packets of unsweetened orange koolaid in to give it color. I will probably decorate with jack-o-lanterns and orange and black streamers and balloons. We have asked the children guests to wear their costumes. PLease help… I am so stumped. I thought we would have hot dogs and homemade chili, but I was late in reserving my shelter and now there is a very huge chance that we wont be able to get under a shelter and I wont have an outlet to plug in a crockpot for the chili. I dont want to cook AT THE PARTY, like grill, because after all I am having 2 SMALL childrens parties, without a lot of help… there is alot that I am going to have to do… so if I could offer premade foods, then that would be great!

Ok so i want to make some homemade dog bikkies for my dogs,
I have a allot of types of different biscuits that i got of the net.
BUT allot of them are really odd, they include things like Nuts, Dairy, and Garlic powder also canned salmon, when i know all those things are not good for dogs.
so my question is, what is actually bad for dogs?
can i still make the Garlic cookies but only with a little bit of garlic powder?
or can i still make the Salmon Crunchy Dog Biscuits that uses the 170g can of tinned salmon?
IS Parsley bad?
Carrot?
Wholemeal flour?
paprika?
Whole Bran cereal?
baking powder?
Help please….
i am not risking my dogs health.
p.s the vet i called was useless i am currently trying to find another vet to call.
Just going to add, i do know what is bad for dogs, just generally if people have any reciepes they use can you prove please?
Sorry *provide* not prov

I was always brought up to believe that dogs shouldn’t eat cat food on a regular basis not only because feline and canine nutritional needs are different, but because cat foods are supplemented with taurine – which is essential for cats but can be harmful to dogs in the long term. I’ve seen the same belief propogated quite a bit on YA as well by other owners.
However, I was scoping different dog food brands in the pet shop today (purely out of interest as I feed homemade natural anyway) and noticed that a lot seemed to containe taurine – amongst other useless additives and junk. Whilst I’m aware that many/most big-brand petfoods are poor quality, surely such additives wouldn’t be put into food if they actually had the potential to be toxic? I’ve also browsed through a variety of food studies in the past; half of which seem to suggest that taurine is good as it prevents certain heart conditions, half which state that it’s potentially toxic.
Who’s right? Am I misinformed?

I know there are a number of things, chocolate, grapes, etc., but are there any other basic foods that some dogs may be allergic to, or just have general problems with. Particuarly ingredients in homemade dog biscuits: flour, nutritional yeast, broth, vegetable oil, various seasonings, etc.
Any info you can give me pertaining to this would be great!

I don’t what to do I am scared to buy another bag I don’t want anything to happen to my dog. What is safe now adays? Is there a homemade food reciepe someone knows that I can feed him till this hype about Menu Foods goes away and things are back to normal?

I just got to shitzus. One is an adult the other is her young pup probably about (8 months old). I’ve tried to do research on what not to feed shitzus and what is recommended. I have read that it is better to feed them homemade food like chicken and rice or others have said to feed them a specific type of dog food. I heard that feeding your pure breed dog the wrong food can cause skin allergens, ( itchy skin), loose stool and so much other problems. I have never had a pure breed dog before so I never had to deal with so much issues with feeding. So far I have been feeding them Iams small bites dog food with a little homemade chicken stock. Occasionally I will boil a piece of chicken and shred some into there dried dog food. Is this good and if not what the heck am I supposed to feed a shitzu? Some one please advise

I want to switch my dogs to a new healthier food and would like your advice.
I have 2 large black labs mixes, male 90 pounds and female 55 pounds.
I have been reading about different foods and it looks like:
Innova
Go Natural
Summit
Orijen
Wellness
seem like the better ones. These use all natural products, no by products and don’t have all those fillers.
One of the things I noticed about them though is that they don’t seem to have a lot of fruit or vegetable products. I know that I should give the dogs mostly meat but I thought that having a good mixture is better for them. Does it matter?
Does anyone use these brands? What are your experiences with them? If I do use them, can I just give my dogs some veggie table scraps to get a good mixture?
Would you recommend any other brands? I realize that making homemade raw dog food is best which I hope to do eventually but for now please give your opinions on dry dog food brands.
Thank you very much for your help

i’ve decided to start making my dogs food instead of buying it. and rather than give him scraps i thought that i’d just put together a nice mix of things. i’ve previously fed him some raw fruits and vegetables and heard that raw chicken kidneys were good for his coat, they were at least i thought they made a difference. but not sure if what i had planned to give him was enough or all that healthy.
i had thought to give him a combination of rice, shredded carrots, apple, spinach, some olive oil, some small amounts of meat because he likes to pick through it for just that and a raw egg. this is all stuff i have previously given him in addition to his dog food and has enjoyed it.
are these ok or should i just buy the bag of dog food he’s used to? i know it’s lacking a lot of nutrients and such so any suggestions would be much appreciated.
i forgot to state he’s a beagle chihuahua mix and is about 3 years old in people years i don’t know what that is in dog years though.
