I’ve heard about vinegar killing other insects…I’ve also heard about mixing 50% dishwashing liquid & 50% water to spray on fleas will this also work for ticks? & what about feeding dogs a moderate amount of garlic in their food does this really repel them? Please supply me with as much "FACTS" you can.
Doug0102 this has nothing to do with "cheapness" you’re a presumptious & UNFUNNY jackass! "fat hamburgers" *sigh…get a life!
Like I said "Doug0102" you’re a prick..all the thumbs down should confirm that for you if there ever any doubt in your mind (although thats hardly likely!).
Guess what Doug?…still a prick.

My female yorkie has chronic ear infections it comes and goes and right now during the heat its acting up again. I have taken her to 2 different vets who both prescribed the same meds and cleaner and washed her ear all for 0.00 I have also changed her food to Cesar Millans organic kibble thinking perhaps something in Science diet but no so I switched her back to Science Diet. 1 remedy that did work temporarily was soaking garlic cloves in olive oil overnight and adding 3 drops to her ear and by the following day I could imediately see a difference her ear finally cleared up by the 4th day and on the 5th she had a very bad red bumpy rash so I stopped the drops and the rash finally went away 2 days later and after 2 months longest ever with no build up she has it again…Right now I’m just useing an ear cleaner So any remedies and experiences with your own dog would be greatly appreciated!
yes , I have been cleaning her ear daily its only in 1 ear the other ear is fine and she has been like this since she was about 4 months old and it just keeps building up. My yorkies are my babies and trust me I dont worry about spending money on them I just want to help her relieve the discomfort and I noticed the home remedy worked wonders compared to the vets.
PS…. she has already scratched and has a paper size cute in ear so I’m scared to used alcohol or vinegar solutions becasue of the sting…

Ok so i want to make some homemade dog bikkies for my dogs,
I have a allot of types of different biscuits that i got of the net.
BUT allot of them are really odd, they include things like Nuts, Dairy, and Garlic powder also canned salmon, when i know all those things are not good for dogs.
so my question is, what is actually bad for dogs?
can i still make the Garlic cookies but only with a little bit of garlic powder?
or can i still make the Salmon Crunchy Dog Biscuits that uses the 170g can of tinned salmon?
IS Parsley bad?
Carrot?
Wholemeal flour?
paprika?
Whole Bran cereal?
baking powder?
Help please….
i am not risking my dogs health.
p.s the vet i called was useless i am currently trying to find another vet to call.
Just going to add, i do know what is bad for dogs, just generally if people have any reciepes they use can you prove please?
Sorry *provide* not prov

My dog, Mimi, hasn’t been herself lately. We think she’s sick. She hasn’t touched her food at all. We give her dry beneful, and every other month we have been switching foods, to give her a new taste. The only other food she has had was iams. She loves both of them.
She also is more quit than usual, and has been laying around a lot. Sometimes we give her table scraps, if it’s homemade hamburgers or chicken, usually boiled. She hasn’t eaten any of the stuff we give her. She also seems relevantly sad and has a stuffy nose. She doesn’t want to play with socks, like we usually do either.
I am making rice for her now, and want to know if I should put anything in it. I read garlic is good, and a little salt, but I just wanted to check.
I meant to say of having a stomach ache.
And she is 2 years old, 3 in Feduary.
And, well, my mom won’t take her to the vet for another 3 days because we are really tight on money, and her peucheck doesn’t come until Thursday.

From the first day I got her, she has scratched constantly. I had her checked by the vet and she didn’t have fleas or any skin problems. She has recently gotten fleas–my backdoor neighbor has a lot of dogs that live outside and I can’t get rid of our fleas. The Vet. said to give her Benadryl as a last resort. I am up to one whole tablet and it hardly helps! I have tried everything on the market( for the itching and the fleas) plus some home remedies–Neem Oil, Castor Oil, etc. I hate to poison my dogs…. I feed her a food for skin problems (only a little) and mostly homemade food, since the recent dog food recall. I usually give her (and her sister, a feist) a cooked mixture of meat (chicken, liver, tofu), a starch, green veg, orange veg, brewer’s yeast, fresh garlic, etc. She also sheds way more than you can imagine, but, until recently, had no sparse or bare spots on her coat. Just recently, she developed some spots of thinning fur. HELP!

So I am making some of my dog’s food. i usually use garlic powder seasoning so they will eat it. But what other seasonings can i add? And like most people say to add salmon oil? Why though? And where do i get it at? Also what other things do you add such as vitamins, minerals? Thanks!
Oh and yes I have heard all about raw and prey model so please don’t suggest that or tell me about it. I have done some research and my parents said no to raw so homemade it is. Please don’t answer go raw or raw is better. I have heard.
Thanks! The book sounds good. But this is not all my dogs eat. they do eat kibble and soft food. I just cook them homemade sometimes.
Okay, i am not really worried about my dog’s coat as she has a beautiful coat anyhow.
Yes I realize garlic is toxic to dogs but I figured a little pinch wouldn’t hurt them and it hasn’t! But they are so picky and wont eat anything unless it smells good. And on top of that my puppy won’t eat unless my chihuahua eats too so we are having some issues there.

Is garlic bad for dogs? If so what does it do to them? Also if you have any recipes for homemade dog food/treats i would love to have it! Thanks!

I have a great dane and a german shepherd/husky mix that I would love to begin on homemade food. Does anyone have any good recipes? Preferably someone who has cooked for their dogs for most of their lives. Thank you!
Making homemade dog food is alot better than store bought dog food!! Wow, your out of your mind! thanks for the answers and I look forward to other ones
don’t worry, i won’t be giving grease or anything unnatural of the sort. and I know for a fact that your not supposed to give anything to a dog with garlic in it

I have a 6 month old chihuahua, who refuses to eat dog food. So, I have learned to cook him dog food with the right ingredients (no onions, grapes, garlic, salt…)
Having said that, I am a bit concerned if he is getting the proper nutrition from eating people food ingredients.
I usually give him chiken meat, with brown rice and carrots. Or veal and oat meal. Chicken liver and beef….I also give him pigears as treats and sometimes bones (lamb bones) to chew on…
Any criticism, suggestions, or ideas would be helpful…
My concern is that his coat isn’t so shiny….
what am I missing out?
