Please share your recipes, and how long it’ll last in the fridge once its already been cooked. If you know any reliable websites that have homemade dog food recipes would be great also. Also when you switched your dogs diet from dry food from the store to homemade did you have to ask your vet. What foods can dogs NOT have/eat?
Sorry so many questions but whoever gives me the most info I’ll be sure to give you 10pts!!!!

I’ve got an Australian Shepherd puppy, he’s almost 4 months old and I want him to eat the very best food so he will grow properly. He will not eat the good for him food. I’ve tried mixing wet food of the same brand with it, cooking him homemade gravy, adding warm milk, dressing it up anyway I can think of and he still would rather go outside and eat what my son’s dog is eating. We feed our son’s dog ol’roy because that’s what he’ll eat. Yes I know you all have an opinion of ol’ roy, but It’s what he will eat and that’s that so keep it to yourself unless you’re actually going to try to help here.
I want to know, what can I do to get him to eat the better quality food?

okay halo is more expensive than our old pet food and my dad wants to have a brand that is just as good (no by products, or any kinds of meals, preservatives, grains, etc.) but not more expensive! i mean really, how does he expect to have higher quality ingredients, REAL ingredients, and have the price be lower than it is for more of the way cheaper and disgusting meal and things of that sort? but oh well, that is what my quest is. i need a brand for cats and the same or different brand for dogs that fits those requirements but that is cheaper than $37.99 for 17.5 lbs of the cat food and cheaper than $43.99 for 30 lbs of the dog food. tell me, is it even possible? and there is a $5 flexibility on the price, but it has to be more or equal to the lbs.
and please do not tell me that meals and by products and grains and certain preservatives are okay, because i really just do not believe that. i mean, the tocopherols are fine with me, i dont care about the harmless preservatives of that sort but the stronger ones, like EQ i think is what its called are the ones i dont want in the food.
also, i do not have time to cook homemade food for our pets so do not bother telling me to do that, please.
thanks in advance for your help.
PS, where can you buy halo anyway? and i don’t mean online, i mean what store in indianapolis, IN can you buy it? petco? petco would be great, because it’s not too far away. can you buy it at petco? and any brands you suggest please tell me where they can be purchased if you know. thanks.

I’d like to be sure I’m feeding my dog the right things, so I did a little bit of research.
50% grains (boiled/steamed)
25% vegetables (lightly boiled/steamed)
25% protein (light cooked meat/raw meat)
Occasional raw egg and fish.
What do you guys think? Is this ideal? And if you think I should feed my dog those products in the stores, tell me why. I’ve researched that too, but I can’t find anything positive about feeding dogs store-bought dog food, except that its easier to do. (I’m not trying to be rude or anything. I’m just trying to get things right.)
Here are some other questions that I’d be thankful for you to answer:
1. How can I make sure there aren’t harmful bacterias on the raw meat I feed my dog? Does freezing the meat for a few days really work?
2. Is cooked white rice okay for dogs to eat?
Thanks so much for the help! If you’re planning on posting anything negative or unhelpful, just don’t post at all.
Ok so if I’m interpreting your messages right, I should feed my dog something more like this, right?
75% meat
and the other 25% can be raw eggs, vegetables, and fruit.
No grains, or at least, not that much.
Tell me if I’m wrong.
“Love is a GSD”, thank you. : ) i took a look at your site too, and it makes sense to me. When I was young, I helped take care of a friend’s dog, and I fed him a diet sort of like the diet you describe. He was healthy during the time we cared for him, until the owners came back and continued feeding cheap dog food bought from Costco. Huge difference. He was once a healthy, normal weight dog with a shiny coat, but then now he’s way underweight. Death to dog food.
I just have one more question. Is cow milk okay for dogs? I hear a lot of people say its bad, but don’t they drink milk when they’re born?

I would also like to know what kind of bones can they eat especially chihuahua? It’s just that I’m very picky with what I give my dog. And also would like to know about homemade snacks.

Hi,
What are some 5th grade ideas for Market Day? The kids have to sell an object that they make at home. It cannot be food such as cookies or popcorn but they can make dog or cat treats. The idea can’t be something like selling pencils or coupons or girl scout cookies it HAS to be homemade. It doesn’t nessicarily have to be easy but something that would sell well would be great!
