I am trying to find the user Mixed Breeds–Not Mutts! This person commented on one of my questions, and they were extremely helpful, and said that I could email them, but I can’t seem to get my email set up in this thing.
Mixed Breeds–Not Mutts, if you read this, please email me at quila21@hotmail.com. I have created this email, simply for you to email me at, and I will answer with my real email.
The question was about homemade dog food.

I found some good commercial food for my dog(orijen, acana, fromm.etc.) but, what about homemade dog food..are those good too? Also, would it be okay for me to feed my dog kibble in the morning and make his meal at night., or would that upset his stomach?
How about feeding, kibble in the morning and raw dog food at night for dinner?

I am sick of hearing of pet food being contaminated and never really knowing WHAT is ACTUALLY in the dog food I am feeding my pets.
So I am exploring the option of homemade dog food and I am looking for recipes that have worked for you. I have a husky if that helps, although I still would like suggestions even if you do not have a Husky.
I have done a google search; however, its hard to decide which website is reliable.
Thanks
Kate

Alright I’m new to this whole thing (making homemade dog food) and I’ve been looking at a few recipies in the Natural Petfood Cookbook by Wendy Nan Rees and Kevin Schlanger. Now I’ve been looking at a few kibble recipies from the book and I think I might know the kibble base now. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe it is:
4 cups of whole wheat flour
2 cups of rye flour
2 cups non-fat milk powder
1 teaspoon salt
4 eggs
and 1 cup of olive oil
That good?
So far people have been saying TOO much wheat/starch. What do i do then? lower the whole wheat flour to 3 cups or add 1 cup of water? If you guys were wondering what my protein would be, it would be beef/chicken.

He’s a poodle mix maltese and he’s very thin. Once he’s done with his bag of Kirkland Signature dog food (I didn’t pick this brand, my dad did) I want to switch him over to either can food or homemade dog food. Any suggestions for a good brand of canned dog food or a good recipe?
On an added note, it’s in my dog’s genes to possibly go blind in a couple more years. Any recipe of canned food that can help prevent/prolong it will also be appreciated.

I have an American Pit Bull Terrier with really bad food allergies. Before I decided to go back to college I was feeding him either Wellness, Blue Buffalo, or Evo. Now that I’m back in school I canNt afford to spend 100 dollars on food a month anymore. Does anyone have any good homemade dog food recipes?
I can’t give him any old kind of food. He has REALLY, REALLY BAD FOOD ALLERGIES. I tried the raw diet and he didn’t take to it very well. Despite him being fed a raw diet(intestines and all) he had constant diarrhea. Carpet and diarrhea don’t mix. This is the first time I’m hearing that feeding him a homecooked meal is bad for him.
If it helps he was fed a raw diet for 2 months. The vet told me to keep him on it longer to see if the diarrhea clears up but it didn’t. So I went back to feeding him the high quality foods.

I have started incorporating homemade dog food into some dry kibble. I use a cup of salmon and sweet potatoes plus a cup of dry food. Is that too little? The charts say 3 1/2 cups for a 60lb dog. But, that is standard commercial food. Mine has no filler…. so???
PS… The dogs are not loosing weight. Even though they need to loose some weight.
