Liver or meat dehydrated in the oven – got it! I’m going to try it.
But my Mastiff’s favorite thing in the world is mint. She loves breath fresheners more than anything on this earth. Also, I love for my dogs to have fresh breath because they lick my face about a zillion times a day.
I have thought of these ways to incorporate breath-freshening herbs in a dehydrated meat treat. If anyone is experienced in dog-treat making or cooking, please help me out and let me know which of these is likely to work.
1) Make a “stock” by boiling parsley and mint for 2-4 hours. Mix a few tablespoons of the “mint stock” with egg whites. Coat dehydrated meat with mixture and bake for 20 minutes.
2) Puree meat/organ in a food processor with mint and parsley and then bake. OR
3) Puree meat/organ in a food processor with mint, parsley, and EGG and then bake. (Would egg help it stay together?)
Also, what other herbs are good for dogs?

This is what i currently feed him because i heard it was one of the best dog foods out there
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2750079
As for store bought treats i feed him Natural Choice Blueberry treats 2 a day. But people keep telling me that homemade treats are even better for them.

Hi everyone, I just got allergy testing done on a stray pup I found two months ago. He was in really bad shape and I had to spend over $2000 to get him healthy(mange, worms, teeth removed, hematoman, ect) and NOW he’s got major allergies. I am trying to find out if anyone knows any good treats to buy at PetsMart or the grocery store for dogs with allergies. I’m trying to avoid homemade treats from doggie bakeries. Most of his allergies are to trees, grass, and fungus, but the foods he is allergic to are CHICKEN,CORN,CARROTS,BARLEY AND EGGS. He CAN have BEEF, PORK,VENISON,DUCK, MILK, WHEAT,OAT, CHEESE AND FLOUR. Does anyone know of any good dog treats that are not homemade or doggie bones that he can enjoy, but will not have a reaction to. I am giving him allergenic shots every three days too, but I don’t know how well that works. I am loosing my mind! I just want to find a good treat for my baby bowser.
Help please?

Ok so because there are jerks in Food & Drink I am reposting my question here:
Do you have a recipe with little to no milk for homemade dog treats? Have you tried the recipe and did your doggy like them?
Are the treats hard, or soft?

My both dog is 16 year old and they both eat 2 meal a day and some treats every day, yesterday i took them too vet for yearly check up and find out that my both dog are under weight, they said average weight for 16 year old toy poodle and toy maltese weight are a least 13 pound but my dogs weight was under 13 pound, a doctor said it probably cause then under weight cause their muscle mobility. a doctor told me to feed more food like that has fats so i was thinking maybe i can just feeding them a more snack instead a more meals what do you think i should do more snack or more meals?
snack i feed them are cooked carrots and apple in raw
boiled egg, scramble egg, baked chicken bites, some cooked vegetables
some banana, some dinner rolls what else?
I feed a regular meals adding dry kibbles, some white rice, some cooked chicken pieces, some pasta noodles, what else i should add?
is there any homemade food good for their bones stronger?
My vet said science diet small bite for senior dogs are best kibbles thats i am feeding my senior dogs plus i add some chicken gravy from royal canin recovery food that has some protein doctor recomemd
not too much of canned food becuase my dogs can able to digested well, so i give them when they are ill and its ok to switch to another dry dog food there are 16 year old
i did try most of the other brand dog food include Iams, Eukanuba, nuro max, nuro natural choice, natural balance none of them are good food for my dogs.
my friend feed their dog with blue buffalo but they ended up taking their dog to vet skin problems and loose bowel.

Okay, so, most of us here are for healthy food for dogs.
What about treats? What do you use? Are they healthy, or not-so-healthy?
Time to be honest and admit what you use as treats. I know a lot of people here will feed healthy treats like the Wellness Jerky, etc. but I know a lot of others will feed junk-food treats like Milk•Bones and Nutro. What do you use? Be honest, please!
I’ll admit; I feed Milk•Bones! That’s not all I am guilty of, though. Sometimes I buy two kinds of Pet Supplies PLUS’ bulk treats- the multicolored small ones, and the medium sized black ones. Now, I don’t feed *all* junk- I do make my own homemade treats with all human ingredients!
Thanks for participating!
I forgot to add, occasionally I will make liver treats!

Hello Everyone! I’ve been sparse around here lately, but I have a question for some of you more doting dog owners.
I’m refreshing some of the Siberian’s training with longer walks, and people just can’t help to stop us(including bikers, cars, ect.)! He’s a go, go, go sort of dog, he wants his walk NOW(because he knows that is what I want) and he’ll be lovey-dovey more towards the end. I’ve found carrying treats or toys with us in his pack while we walk is an easy way to let people interact with him, and keep him calm while doing so. While I want him to be focused on the work I give him, I’m also hoping to teach him to listen to my commands in ALL situations, for example: When our walks are interupted and he’s required to stand/sit still and not cause a fuss. The treats/toys get him focused on the people a little better, and help him see that these particular people aren’t the kind he needs to be growling at/rrunning away from.
Problem is, the treats you get in the store are crap! I’ve tried carrots, little pieces of bread, that sort of thing but he gets bored with them quickly and I’d like to make it a little more interesting for him. Healthier too!
So does anyone around here know of any really good homemade recpies? You know, the GOOD ones with no corn meal, no crappy fillers or too-rich ingredients. He isn’t too sensitive when it comes to food, but I don’t want to take any chances. This is a two mile walk, after all!
Low fat would be awesome if possible. These last couple busy months have cut our work-out time, and he’s gained a couple pounds inbetween his latest growth spurt and stealing the mastiff’s food before I can correct him/pick up bowls(reverted behavior also due to lack of exersice).
Thank you in advance for all your responses. =D

I am looking for a recipe for peanut butter treats for my grandmas dog. She does flyball with him and he is food orientated of course and she wants to make some treats with mostly peanut butter and very little flour. I guess you could say more like peanut butter balls but not sticky. If you have any ideas that would be great!!!!
